COURSE PROCEDURES & PRACTICES

Teacher: Mr. Kim Mackey                                  Course: Geometry and Honors Geometry

 

This form is to be posted in the room where the course is taught. A copy is to be filed with the principal's office.

 

1. Specifically indicate how the students will be graded.

        

         1. Grades will be based on percentages.

         2. percent of credit on a problem will be based on the correctness and quality of work, where applicable.

         3. 50 percent of credit on a problem will be based on having the correct answer, where applicable. (exception examples: POWs, typed notebooks).

         4. Grades in Geometry will be based on: 1) homework, 10% 2) typed notebook, 10%  3) tests, 80% . In Honors Geometry the percentages will be: Homework, 5%, typed notebook 10%, Pows 15%, and tests, 70 percent.

 

2. Specifically indicate how make-up work will be executed.

        

         1. pre-make-up work is due the day of return.

         2. For make-up due to illness a student will have two days to make-up work for every consecutive day of illness up to five consecutive days. For more than five consecutive days of illness I will arrange a satisfactory time length with the student.

         3. Tests must be made up and will be marked as a zero until they are.

 

3. Specifically indicate how extra credit work will be considered.

 

         1. Extra credit problems will appear on tests. Extra credit will also be given for exceptional work on POWs. For successful completion of every extra credit problem the quarter grade will be raised three-tenths of one percent. For every attempt the quarter grade will be raised one-tenth of one percent. The maximum that the quarter grade will be raised due to extra credit is three percent. Additional extra credit may be earned depending on an agreement between student and teacher, but in no case will be allowed to raise the quarter grade more than three percent.

 

4. Specifically indicate the basic work requirements (i.e.--workbook, outside reading, book reports, papers, etc.)

 

         1. textbook

         2. lecture material

         3. teacher generated homework, tests, and POWs.

         4. Typed notebook.

 

5. Specifically indicate your office hours and where you will be located during these hours.

 

         My hours are: 7:50 a.m. to 8:10 a.m. Monday thru Friday, 3:07 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. Monday through Friday in room 209.
