"CHILDREN
ARE APT TO LIVE UP TO WHAT YOU BELIEVE OF THEM."
Welcome to the 2006-2007 school
year. The staff and I are looking forward to an exciting and successful
school year! Our goal is to work with you to ensure that each student
attending George H. Gilson Jr. High has a rewarding productive year.
A significant step in achieving this goal is to keep you informed
about school programs, procedures, and activities. We want you to
join us as partners in these programs to ensure the best education
for your children.
In an effort to provide better communication between home and school
we have provided a list of email addresses for all our teachers.
Also, you can find information on what is happening in the junior
high classes by going on the Internet to www.schoolnotes.com. When
you get to the web site just type in “99686” and click
“GO” and it will take you to all the teachers that have
registered for this service. Scroll down the page and click on the
class to find out what is going on (lesson plans, projects and assignments)
in your son’s or daughter’s class. There is also a link
to email questions and concerns to the teacher.
Another great tool for parents this year is the Parent Portal. Pertinent
student information is automatically available to you through your
own unique password. The Parent Portal can be accessed from any
personal computer equipped with Internet access. You will be able
to view information about your student such as grades, homework,
and teacher comments, as well as school bulletins and other general
information, giving you a front seat advantage in helping your student
succeed. Included in this mailing are directions on how to activate
your parent account. Also, we are hosting two evening training sessions
in the junior high computer lab. Please see the important dates
listed on the back.
If at any time during the year you have questions or concerns about
school programs or activities, please don't hesitate to call, e-mail,
or stop by the school.
Helping
your child
SUCCEED in Middle
School.
The top five tips for developing a strong partnership with
teachers:
There is no time like the
present to introduce yourself to the teachers.
Put the parent teacher conference
on your calendar - and don't miss it!
Stay in regular contact
with teachers.
If problems arise, stay
objective.
Don't be a stranger. Visit
the school.
Riddle
of the Week: If you
think you know the answer please email Mr. Morrison
You here
me again as you heard me before. Then I die off, 'til you call me
once more.
