Let me be the first to welcome you to Alaska’s number one school district. In Valdez City Schools we are committed to providing an excellent educational experience to all of our students. Our test scores have increased every year since 2002 because of our wonderful and dedicated district employees. The majority of our teachers have been teaching in our district for over 15 years and also have their Master’s Degrees in Education. Our district currently has AYP scores in the top tier of all Alaska school districts.

We are committed to ensuring that all students have the technology that they need to be successful. We show that commitment by providing a laptop for every student in grades 5 through 12. We have just completed a total upgrade to our computing infrastructure to support increased computer network and internet speeds for the future. We also have more computers in our district than we have students, teachers, and support staff combined!

In conjunction with the City of Valdez we are working towards replacing our outdated Junior High School with an energy efficient new Middle School Building to house 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Our Elementary School has just been repainted and stained to provide a superior exterior to reflect the superior instruction that is happening on the interior of the building. We also just completed updating the High School fire suppression system, intercom system, and building sound systems to bring them up to current best practices. All of our buildings are poised to provide a quality education for students in the years to come.
